The old Zandvoort dune circuit, a highly demanding, very twisty, narrow track that challenged the drivers, certainly contributed to this.

Michal Smidl once again achieved a commanding start-finish victory in the 6th and penultimate race of the Formula V Challenge 2019. In the Racing Lounge in Cham/ZG, he and his Czech compatriot and team mate Vojtech "Vojta" Polesny achieved the first double victory for the Varga Sim Racing Team and for the Czech Republic. In the final, David L'Addomada from Stäfa took third place and his first podium place ahead of Thomas Schmid.

The countdown to the hot final phase of the Formula-V Swiss Championship begins: The penultimate race of the championship starts in 6 days. The Red Bull Ring in Spielberg/Austria is on Sunday, November 10, 2019, the next race track on which this 6th race of the Formula-V Swiss Challenge will be driven in the Racing Lounge in Cham.As always, the best of the qualification will compete next Sunday at 9.00 a.m. first in the "hot laping mode" and then in the race.
The fifth race of the Swiss Challenge of Formula-V on the Imola Circuit not only produced an outstanding winner in terms of his stature: The Czech Michal Smidl, who is a good 1.90 metres tall, celebrated a commanding start-finish victory. The winners were also the second-placed Felix Hirsiger, who had also grown considerably, and who extended his lead in the overall standings of the championship - and the third, Christoph Holstein, who kept his chances of winning the Swiss championship as the runner-up in the overall standings.

The Allfina team made the simulators hum in Zurich's new Racing Lounge The water of Lake Zurich shines silver-blue, a few seagulls circle in the sky, in the harbour Tiefenbrunnen the boats swing leisurely in the gentle waves. The simulators are humming in the new Formula V Racing Lounge. It's an atmosphere that you can usually experience in the sophisticated motorsport mecca of Monte Carlo. "I could have actually arrived by ship," says Felix Hirsiger laughing. The 21-year-old Racer from Erlenbach, leader in the overall ranking of the Swiss Championship, and his team Allfina Racing were given the opportunity to test the new locality the day before the start of operations. Team owner Norbert Klein is impressed: "This is exactly what we want: a perfect location, attractive infrastructure and a dignified bar that makes our sport accessible to the general public".
From Tuesday, 3 September, Formula V will also start operations in Zurich by opening the second Racing Lounge. On the upper floor of the Meylenstein Event Location (Bellerivestrasse 263, near Tiefenbrunnen railway station), four new Formula 1 simulators and a cosy bar will be available for racers and pleasure drivers. This means that Grand Prix races can now also be simulated on the Monza, Spa, Zandvoort or Nürburgring circuits in Switzerland's largest city. Guests have reserved parking spaces at their disposal.
The fourth challenge for the Swiss championship title ended with the first success of Christoph Holstein, who profited from a collision of the two leading Felix Hirsiger and Michal Smidl and secured the first prize money of 5000 francs. Smidl finished second and Besnik Murtezi won the third prize. "I feel sorry for Felix", Murtezi said after the jury's decision to move Hirsiger to 4th place as a result of a remover to Smidl.
Team Varga underlined their ambitions for the Challenge race on Sunday with the signing of the two Czech E-Racers Michal Smidl and Tomas Doleze. At his first test in a Formula V simulator the experienced E-Racer "Magic Michael" drove the second best practice time on the Silverstone circuit, only 0.075 seconds behind Felix Hirsiger. The two-time Challenge winner Felix confirmed his good performance and finished on Thursday only 0.02 seconds above his best training time.
The summer holidays are also over for Formula 1. The second half of the season starts with the Belgian Grand Prix. Enjoy the event with Formula V in our Racing Lounge. In the spirit of Spa-Francorchamps we will start on Wednesday, August 28th in our lounge in Cham for a Belgian week. Compare your times with the other racers and with those of the best in the world and relax after the hot laps with a cool Belgian beer. At the same time experience the Belgian Grand Prix on our big screen at the weekend. From Friday on there will be practice, qualifying and of course the race live on Sunday.
He is one of the best kart drivers in Europe. At Jacques Villeneuve's school, he puts his foot down. The 16 year old Swiss Jasin Ferati from Winterthur is also an attraction in the Formula V field. Jasin Ferati says what every young racing driver dreams of. But in the case of the 16-year-old car mechanic apprentice, the statement stands for more than just an unrealistic wish. Ferati is one of the fastest kart drivers in his age group - throughout Europe. Two races before the end of the season of the internationally announced German championship he is second in the overall classification and has a real chance of winning the title.
It would perfectly fit the goals of Formula V if the young racer Jasin Ferati (16) could also make the breakthrough on the real circuits. At least he made it to the start. In Jacques Villeneuve's training camp at Magny-Cours, Jasin survived the first tests in Formula 4 racers and qualified for the quarter-finals of the training series. Because of this data collision Jasin has decided not to participate in the third round of the Challenge series, but he will be back on August 25th. Anyone who can drive as one of the few Swiss Formula 4, should also get Cham into the points. Let’s be surprised!
After Shannon Lugassy (13) from Geneva, he is the youngest driver in the Formula V field. Without his mother, he could not travel to the races. But he says: "I want to be at the top". Kevin Aebi (14) is the fastest teenager far and wide. Actually, Kevin Aebi is still much too young to drive a car himself - he will complete the stage in four years. Successful premiere for Manuel Sudau in Formula V. The 33-year-old German wins at the very first attempt in the Racing Lounge in Cham: "Cool" he says about his success. Christoph Holstein from Zug finishes second. Felix Hirsiger, the winner of the first two races, has to settle for third place. At the virtual Nürburgring, Sudau started from pole position to the 30-minute final race. With Fredy Eugster, winner of the Swiss Simracing Series, a parallel event to the Challenge Series, a new name also remained below the limit of 1:30 minutes. Three German racers are currently ranked in the top dozen. Amazing the twins Simon and Mike Danner: they didn't drive exactly the same time, but don't let anyone in the ranking get between them.
A delegation from Korean electronics giant Samsung visited the Racing Lounge in Cham this week and took the opportunity to make their first driving tests in the Formula 1 simulators. In the video Cathy Kim whirls up and down the track and is instructed how to keep the simulator under control.
New track, but old names: Christoph Holstein and Felix Hirsiger lead the training ranking for the third Challenge race on Sunday, 28 July, at the Nürburgring circuit. Several German racers have announced their participation. It will be interesting to see whether the Swiss dominance will be broken.
Monisha Kaltenborn, the long-standing director and former co-owner of the Sauber Formula 1 racing team, is switching to e-sport and becoming CEO of Formula V. She took up her new position on 1 July. "I'm looking forward to this fascinating task. E-Sport is experiencing a phenomenal rise, in which I like to participate with my experience in racing," says the 48-year-old Austrian, who lives in Küsnacht ZH, about her new commitment. For the founder of Formula V AG, Francisco Fernandez, the entry of Monisha Kaltenborn is a great success: "With Monisha Kaltenborn we have been able to commit the highest sporting and entrepreneurial competence. - The lawyer Kaltenborn joined the Sauber racing team in 2000 and headed it from 2010 to 2017.

Two favourites who could not fulfil their high ambitions on the first day of the competition want to take revenge on Sunday's second Challenge race: the former Formula 4 driver Shaun Vogel (Wädenswil) and the e-sports professional Benjamin Badér (Hungary). Nothing has changed at the top of the training ranking until the end of the qualification on Thursday evening. Christoph Holstein (Hünenberg) is 0.012 seconds ahead of the first winner Felix Hirsiger (Erlenbach). It is remarkable that on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit 50 drivers stayed below the 1:50 mark - the quality of the racers increases from week to week.
In the second Challenge race of the current Swiss championship Formula V introduces the term "Drive Out". This means a second elimination in which those drivers who failed to qualify for the second lap in the first lap can again drive by 12 places for advancement. In this way it is avoided that for some racers the race day is already over after eight minutes only. Every participant who could not use the first chance in the fight for the 5000 francs winner’s prize money will get a second chance.

Challenge starting winner Felix Hirsiger (Erlenbach) improved to 2nd place, but timed 0.012 seconds behind the best in training. The fastest 40 racers qualify for the second Challenge race day on Sunday, 30 June.
Spa-Francorchamps - at this legendary racetrack, the pulse of every racing fan should beat faster. Who doesn't know the circuit in the Belgian Ardennes, which is also called "Ardennes Roller Coaster". Blanchimont, La Source, Les Combes, Stavelot and, of course, the famous Eau Rouge are sections that challenge the rider to the limit lap by lap.
"I hope that the performances in Formula V will open doors for me in racing again". These words come from Felix Hirsiger, the winner of the Challenge premiere in Cham at the end of May. Now the wish has been fulfilled faster than the 21-year-old Racer from Erlenbach at the Lake of Zurich thought.
Danica Brönnimann, the racing operation nurse, is setting course for Belgium. She already trained for the second Challenge race on Sunday, 30 June, which will be held on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps course. Based on the experience from the first race and also thanks to some reports from the participants, some changes will be made for the second Challenge Event. Formula V will inform about in the coming days.
The championship premiere in Formula V ended with a surprise: 21-year-old Felix Hirsiger from Erlenbach on Lake Zurich surprised all the competitors and was took the winning cheque of 5,000 Swiss Francs. The 30-minute final race took place without two favorites. None of Shaun Vogel's qualification rounds could be validated by the electronic monitoring system, while the Hungarian Benjamin Badér overshot in a corner in the semi-final and could not catch up with the time penalties. Badér secured at least 10 points by winning the small final.
On Sunday, at the Auto Zürich, the four best of the four-day qualification determined the first winner of the Formula V Challenge. Allert van der Wal, Fabian Heggli, Roy Ricklin and Phillip Schellenberg competed against each other at 3:00 pm. The semi-finals contested the pilots in an 8-minute race.
The Formula V has successfully presented itself at Auto Zurich: the two original racing simulators were fully booked from the first to the last minute of the opening evening in the Zurich Exhibition Hall.

Benjamin Baders Monza-Rekord überlebte den Ansturm
Der Metzger muss fast 1000 Würste anschaffen, um den Hunger der vielen Gäste zu stillen, die sich am vergangenen Samstag zur Eröffnung der Formula-V-Racing Lounge in Cham einfanden. Der Andrang war so gross, dass die Rennsportfans für die Gratisfahrten auf den High-Tech-Simulatoren teilweise über zwei Stunden warten mussten.
Die Nidwaldner Rennfahrer Mike und Simon Danner lösten als erste ein Formula-V-Abonnement. Nun fahren sie in Cham durch Monte Carlo, auf dem Nürburgring und im Nudeltopf von Indianapolis – und können plötzlich mit ihrem Hobby Geld verdienen.
Der 26jährige holländische Profi Indy Dontje, der für Mercedes in der GT-3-Klasse fährt, testete in der Racing Lounge in Cham erstmals einen Rennsimulator der Formula V. Dontje fuhr zuerst den Rundkurs von Zandvoort, danach mass er sich mit den besten Zeiten auf dem Circuit von Monza. Eine neue Lounge-Bestzeit schaffte er nicht: «Ich hatte Mühe, mich an die Bremsen zu gewöhnen. Zuerst bremste ich zu früh und war zu langsam, danach zu spät und landete neben der Piste.»
