Michal Smidl in the fast lane

Verstappen team-mate Michal Smidl wins the Racer League round of our Championship "Beyond the Pinnacle" at Mugello. The Czech beat former Williams-eSports driver Coque Lopez and German Angelo Michel.

"That was a good race today, in the knock-out qualifying I already got through well and in the race I was able to catch Lopez directly," Mugello winner Smidl classified his success.

From ninth place, German Angelo Michel fought his way up to the leading group in just a few laps. "The first lap was great, I was able to overtake a few and then had a good lead towards the back," explained the Bavarian. "So I could concentrate on my attacks to the front. At the end I still wanted second place from Lopez. In the chase, I almost lost the car and preferred to secure third place."

In the Racer League, Angelo Michel is now in second place behind Smidl, who already has a 45-point lead.

"Michal was extremely fast and right on me. I wasn't able to put up much of a fight then and wanted to secure second place anyway."

Overview in the Challenger League

The double victory for the Munich Lounge is made perfect by Nico Fahland. The German celebrates the triumph in the Challenger League just ahead of Lorenzo Heyder.

"That was a pretty tough race. Lorenzo was super fast but made two mistakes," explains race winner Fahland.

One man's joy is another man's sorrow. "My goal was first place. With my pace I could have won. That's why I'm a bit disappointed and sad," Heyder said after the race.

Janik Pletscher, meanwhile, caused a sensation. The Swiss celebrated his debut with a podium finish in third place. Two months ago, he sat in one of the high-tech simulators for the first time. "I was just focused on the track and had no expectations. It was a lot of fun to fight against these strong drivers."

In the championship, David Cid (70 points) continues to lead ahead of Marcos Valverde (48 points).
