The preview of the 7th Challenge: Barcelona
Finally, the challenge continues! The next stop of the Racing Unleashed Championship is Barcelona. On the new/old layout with the big bend instead of the chicane in the third sector, the drivers will fight for points once more in the autonomous community of Catalonia.
While everything is still open among the Challengers, a gap is slowly forming among the top drivers in the Racer League.
Michal Smidl travels to the Munich Racing Lounge with a 17-point cushion on Alejandro Sanchez. Among others, he will meet the latter's pursuer, Angelo Michel, there. But the German also has some ground to make up on the man in front of him, as the Spaniard is still 19 points ahead. Michel is followed by his compatriots Hasse and Hirsch as well as the Spaniard Enrique Marañón.
Last season, Sanchez won the race ahead of Smidl and Michel. The competition will have to work hard if they want to leave the trio behind this year.
As always, the racers will start with the GearUp on Saturday at 10:30 CET.
In the Challenger League, Janik Pletscher made a great comeback to take the lead last time out, but Nico Fahland (7 points behind) will certainly not give up so easily.
Behind the top duo, a fascinating battle is forming for third place on the podium: The drivers in positions 3-7 are currently separated by just 10 points, with Joshua Heyder, winner in the last race, the only one in this quintet not to start from the new lounge in Madrid. His brother Lorenzo will be out for revenge after a spirited but unfortunate performance in Monza and is also a candidate for spectacle.
The live broadcast for the Challenger League starts at 19:00 CET on Youtube and Twitch.
However, all spectators are once again cordially invited to the Racing Lounges. In the Kemptthal Lounge there will again be an aperitif and free drinks!
Admission is from 18:30 and you can find the guest list right here:
