2026 RU1 & RU2 CHAMPIONSHIP | RACE REPORT | ROUND 1
Date: 22 February 2026
Location: Zurich City / Madrid / Munich

RU1 | ROUND 1 | AUSTRIA

Siro Zambra kickstarted his RU1 Championship challenge in dominant fashion with a commanding victory from pole position in Spielberg. Zambra quickly opened up a three-second lead over RU Esports Series veteran Michal Šmídl. Šmídl, the reigning RU Esports Racers’ Champion, was unable to match Zambra’s impressive early pace. While Šmídl couldn’t close in to mount a challenge, the duo were clearly the class of the field as they exchanged fastest laps. It was Šmídl who secured the fastest lap — and the additional championship point.

The battle for the final spot on the podium was far more dramatic. The highlight of the race saw Janik Pletscher and Coque López go head-to-head, banging wheels as they fought through the Austrian hills. It ended in disappointment for López, who was spun by Pletscher at the penultimate corner. While Pletscher crossed the line in third, a 10-second time penalty for the incident promoted Alejandro Sánchez onto the podium. López’s spin did not prove too costly, however, as he ultimately finished fourth ahead of Enrique Marañón.

RU2 | ROUND 1 | AUSTRIA

The start of the 2026 RU Championship saw Nestor Garcia reign supreme in Austria with a commanding performance. Garcia edged out fellow Spaniard Roberto Miguez to secure pole position for the season opener, and the pair remained line astern off the start, with Garcia maintaining his advantage.

While Miguez kept Garcia under pressure during the opening half of the race, Garcia demonstrated his composure and pace in the closing stages, gradually extending his lead to a comfortable five seconds to secure victory.

Behind them, the battle for the remaining podium positions intensified. Reigning RU3 Champion Tim Potzmader emerged as the main challenger, launching an ambitious move on Miguez into Turn 3. Potzmader appeared to have secured second place, but he misjudged his braking into Turn 4, allowing Miguez to retake the position.

That mistake left Potzmader vulnerable, and he soon lost out to Norik Lehocki and Guzman Miguelez in the closing laps. Lehocki held firm under pressure to secure third place, completing the podium behind Garcia and Miguez.
