The RU Esports Series returns with championship titles, prize money and much more up for grabs.

After a much-needed summer break, the 2026 RU Esports Series returns on 18 October.
Four rounds remain in the RU1 and RU2 championships, while the RU3 Fall Championship is set to begin on 1 November.
The final stretch of the season will see champions crowned, prize money won and each driver’s future within the RU Esports Series ecosystem decided.

Epic Three-Way RU1 Title Fight
After four dramatic races during the first half of the year, the battle for Racing Unleashed’s pinnacle championship – RU1 – appears to be between three drivers.
Coque López heads into Round 5 at the Nürburgring as the driver to beat. The formidable Spaniard has taken three pole positions and converted them into two race victories. López is no stranger to competing for major honours, having enjoyed a glittering Gran Turismo career that includes four world titles.
López’s experience and racecraft have already been on display. Despite leading the standings heading into the second half of the year, he has often been quick to point out that title rival Siro Zambra has shown greater pace during practice.
Zambra, Zurich’s leading force, sits just nine points behind López. The Swiss driver has not won since the season opener at the Red Bull Ring in February. He was left frustrated at Imola, where he entered as the heavy favourite but had to recover from a poor qualifying session to finish second.
Let’s not forget that the pair collided on the opening lap at Spa-Francorchamps. While their relationship appears to have remained cordial, further flashpoints are possible as we move closer to the Silverstone finale on 13 December.
Michal Smidl, statistically the most successful driver in RU Esports Series history with five titles, is lurking as the slight outsider in the championship fight. The Czech driver is not one for the limelight, but he remains a serious threat, trailing López by just 21 points.
While the title fight takes centre stage, every RU1 driver still has something to race for. At the end of the season, the two lowest-ranked drivers from each lounge will be demoted to RU2 for 2027. With promotion and demotion decided through the lounge-based Driver Ranking, beating your local rivals will be key ahead of next year.

Can Potzmader stop García?
The direction of travel appeared to be firmly in Nestor García’s favour after he opened the RU2 season with a hat-trick of victories. However, 2025 RU3 Fall Champion Tim Potzmader wrestled back some momentum with an impressive win before the summer break.
The timing of Potzmader’s victory showed that García is not invincible, giving hope to the rest of the grid. Nevertheless, García remains the driver to beat, holding a 23-point advantage with four rounds remaining.
The RU2 grid has also been shaken up ahead of Round 5, with the strongest performers from the 2026 RU3 Spring Championship earning promotion.
RU2 Grid Changes from Round 5
- Zurich City: Julian Ammann and Navin Schwerzmann replace Melvin Leuppi and Andrin Christoffel.
- Zurich Airport: Gian Frischknecht and Aaron Schütz replace Marc Gamez and Lorenz Stumpp.
- Munich: Samuel Bartl and Lukas Egger replace Tyler Sieber and Maximilian Nairz.
- Madrid: Unai Maroto and David Sobreiro replace Ivan Merino and Roberto Miguez.
Despite the changes to the grid, the points will not be reset. The promoted RU3 drivers therefore have no time to ease themselves into the championship and must score heavily from the outset to secure their RU2 places – or even complete back-to-back promotions by reaching RU1.

How Can I Join RU3?
The RU3 Fall Championship begins on 1 November, providing another opportunity for any driver to enter the RU Esports Series and start their journey towards RU1.
Qualifying for the opening round will take place from 21–30 October across our Madrid, Munich, Zurich City and Zurich Airport lounges, with the five fastest drivers from each lounge progressing to the race.
The RU3 championship will be contested across three rounds on 1 November, 22 November and 13 December. At the end of the season, the top two drivers in the Driver Ranking at each lounge will earn promotion to RU2 for 2027.
As the Spring Championship proved, RU3 offers a clear route through our ecosystem – and within 12 months, you could progress from the RU3 Qualifiers to the RU1 grid.

The Battle Resumes
The RU Esports Series returns at the Nürburgring GP on 18 October, beginning an intense final run of four events.
With championship titles, prize money, promotion and places on the 2027 grid all at stake, every position – and every point – will matter between now and the Silverstone finale on 13 December.
